Physiotherapy

I am excited to offer physiotherapy services on Gabriola Island! I see patients on Gabriola every 3 to 4 weeks out of the Gabriola Chiropractic clinic space.

If you click on a treatment option, you will see my Gabriola availability. Please email or phone me if the availability isn’t obvious. I can be reached at nadine@formphysiotherapy.com or on my mobile at 604 306 0127.

I also remain available for virtual sessions, bookable through my Vancouver practice at www.formphysiotherapy.com.

I have been a sports and orthopaedic physiotherapist since 1991 and a co-owner of Form Physiotherapy in Vancouver since 2004.

Form was one of the Lower Mainland’s first one-on-one style physiotherapy clinics. I offer that same style of practice to my Gabriola patients. I only have one patient at a time and your entire scheduled treatment time is spent on direct care from me.

Patients eligible for MSP assistance will see their rates adjusted and I am able to offer direct billing to extended health insurers for my Gabriola patients.

My career has reflected sport and orthopaedic physiotherapy focuses. Very early in my career, my work as the Varsity Therapist for UBC Athletics exposed me to a wide range of athletes and sports. I have been fortunate since then to have had many experiences working with a variety of Canadian National Team Programs and fulfilled my own dream of being an Olympian when I attended the Beijing Summer Olympics as the Canadian Wrestling Teams’ therapist. Closer to home, It was a privilege to serve as the Venue Medical Officer for the Womens’ Hockey tournament at our own 2010 Winter Olympics, where I oversaw a team of medical professionals providing their services for that event.

My clinical practice has been varied and I welcome patients with all variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.

I have, however, had niche practices around neck and shoulder injuries and hip and knee osteoarthritis.

During the first months of COVID, I developed a website (www.helpingmyarthritis.ca) where I aim to provide good resources to those living with osteoarthritis. There have been so many recent advances in this area! It is a passion of mine to share that knowledge.

Some non-clinical professional endeavours have included serving 2 terms as the Chairperson of Sport Physiotherapy Canada and being recently appointed as a Clinical Instructor in UBC’s Faculty of Medicine, whereby I do some teaching to and host Family Practice Residents for some shadowing opportunities at my practice .

My experiences and communities have shaped me as a physio. I believe in teamwork in healthcare and welcome working with your other healthcare providers. I am a bit relentless in my desire for good outcomes for my patients. I aim to bring an educational and encouraging tone to my care. I believe that keeping moving is an integral part of keeping healthy and, after all these years, I remain amazed at the potential of the human body, no matter one’s age or condition.

Outside of work, I absolutely love travelling, reading, a great movie, spending time in nature and being with my family and friends. I have been known to enjoy buying a pair or two of shoes. And I still hope that one day I will play competitive volleyball again.

I look forward to meeting with you!
